Since January 2014, she has been working as the Head of the Georgia office of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). In 2005-2014, she was a program analyst of the same organization.
The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is the UN's sexual and reproductive health agency, which promotes the strengthening of women's, men's and children's rights to healthy lives and equal opportunities. UNFPA's activities in the field of population dynamics are of the utmost importance for the achievement of the global goals of poverty eradication and sustainable development. Population dynamics, including growth rates, age structure, birth and death rates, migration, and more, affect every aspect of human, social, and economic development.
Lela Bakradze has been working in various international organizations since 1998, and since 2001 in the United Nations Women's Fund (UNIFEM), in the position of the National Project Coordinator.
In addition, in 1983-1998 Mrs. Lela Bakradze held the position of a nephrologist at Akaki Pipia Clinical Hospital No. 1, later St. Tbilisi Railway Department Central Clinical Hospital.
Mrs. Lela Bakradze holds a Master's Degree in business administration from Caucasus Business School and a diploma in medicine from Tbilisi State Medical Institute.
