Presentation of the Interactive Energy Portal

Date: 3 June 2025

The National Statistics Office of Georgia presented a new interactive portal –  Energy Statistics Portal. Mr. Gogita Todradze, Executive Director of Geostat, addressed  the audience. According to him, the new Energy Statistics Portal is a successful outcome of joint efforts and represents a significant contribution to the planning and development of the country’s energy policy.

Mr.Gogita Todradze thanked the team members who made an invaluable contribution to the implementation of the project. “For the representatives of the Government of Georgia, the private sector, and the academic community present here today, this portal provides a new opportunity to obtain, analyze, and utilize statistical information in the energy sector more effectively”,- stated the Executive Director of Geostat.

The portal presents statistical data related to the energy sector  in simple and easily-understandable way. It gives users the opportunity to analyze statistical data of Georgia’s energy sector through interactive charts and modern data visualization tools, in one space. The Portal consists of four main modules: Energy Balance, Short-Term Energy Statistics, Household Energy Consumption, and Key Indicators.

The Energy Balance module includes data categorized both by types of energy resources—such as electricity, heat, natural gas, coal, oil, biofuels, and waste—and by energy flows, including production, consumption, import, and export. The module features five analytical indicators, two of which are Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) indicators. Users can explore integrated diagrams of energy flows and view balance data in the form of tables.

The Short-Term Energy Statistics module compiles high-frequency energy indicators, including semi-annual electricity and natural gas prices for both household and non-household sectors. It also provides monthly data on the production, import, export, and domestic supply of energy resources.

The Household Energy Consumption module is based on the results of a special survey conducted in 2022. It analyzes the use of various types of energy resources and technologies in urban and rural areas for heating, cooling, hot water, and culinary use .

The Key Indicators module consolidates the most significant data from the previous three modules, grouped by energy resource production, consumption, prices, and SDG indicators. This module also features a flow diagram and a map displaying the locations of major power plants in Georgia, including wind, thermal, and hydroelectric stations.

Geostat aims to provide the public with reliable, comprehensive, and easily accessible statistical information that will significantly improve the planning and management of energy policy at all levels.
