Mr Gogita Todradze Participates in the Meeting of the Bureau of the Conference of European Statisticians (CES)

Date: 27 February 2026

The Executive Director of Geostat, Mr Gogita Todradze, took part in the meeting of the Bureau of the Conference of European Statisticians (CES), which was held on 25-26 February in Washington D.C., at the headquarters of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Over the course of the two-day working session, the Bureau discussed priority areas in the field of official statistics and adopted decisions that will guide the strategic direction of statistical systems across Europe and North America, as well as the Caucasus and Central Asia.

One of the primary items on the agenda was the implementation of the Resolution concerning labour statistics at national levels. The Bureau also considered the priority topics selected for in-depth review in 2026 and 2027, which will shape the forthcoming programme of work of the Conference of European Statisticians.

Significant attention was devoted to preparations for the 2026 plenary session. Key themes include migration statistics, the impact of technological transformation on the fundamental principles of official statistics, as well as prospects for the integration of statistical and geospatial information. These topics reflect the necessity of adapting and advancing the system of official statistics in response to the backdrop of global challenges.

Mr Todradze was elected as a member of the Bureau in June 2025. The Bureau is chaired by the Chief Statistician of Canada and comprises, along with Mr Todradze, the heads of the national statistical offices of Ireland, Estonia, Slovenia, Mexico, and Australia.

The following officials participate in the work of the Bureau as permanent observers:

•    The Director of the United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD)

•    The Director-General of Eurostat
