The National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat) celebrated the 107th anniversary of its establishment.
The anniversary event was held at the Biltmore Hotel Tbilisi and was attended by representatives of the Government of Georgia, the executive and legislative branches, the National Bank of Georgia, academia, and the private sector.
The event was opened by Mr. Gogita Todradze, Executive Director of Geostat. Welcome addresses were also delivered by Mr. Ilia Shamugia, Deputy Head of the Administration of the Government of Georgia, Mr. Mikheil Dundua, Deputy Minister of Finance of Georgia, Mr. Vakhtang Tsintsadze, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia and Ms. Ekaterine Mikabadze, First Vice-Governor of the National Bank of Georgia.
During the event, Mr. Todradze delivered a presentation summarising the key reforms implemented by Geostat in recent years, its main achievements, and the institution’s future development plans. He highlighted major projects aimed at advancing official statistics, the introduction of modern technologies, and the strengthening of international cooperation.
A special part of the event was dedicated to recognising the contributions of Geostat’s staff and partners. Certificates of Recognition were awarded to employees who have made a significant contribution to the development of official statistics. Business enterprises and private sector partners who have worked closely with Geostat over many years, supporting the production of high-quality official statistics, were also recognised.
The event emphasised that, over its 107-year history, Geostat has evolved into a modern, independent institution operating in line with international standards. Particular attention was given to recent achievements, including the fully digital implementation of the Population and Agricultural Censuses, the development of modern data dissemination platforms, the integration of artificial intelligence into the production of official statistics, and the strengthening of international cooperation.
The anniversary event concluded with a formal reception.
