| Since 2026, Merab Khokhobaia has served as Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. |
| He has been an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Economics and Business since 2020. Between 2021 and 2026, he headed the Faculty's Office for Research and Development. Since 2017, he has also served as an Accreditation Expert at the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement of Georgia. |
| Professor Khokhobaia obtained both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Business Administration from the Faculty of Economics and Business at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. In 2016, he successfully defended his PhD thesis and was awarded a Doctorate in Economics. |
| In 2024, he was a Research Fellow at Friedrich Schiller University Jena, Germany, under the DAAD Eastern Partnership Programme Research Scholarship. As both a researcher and a visiting lecturer, he has established and continues to maintain close academic partnerships with prominent European universities in Italy, Spain, Austria, Germany, Poland and France. |
| Professor Khokhobaia has authored more than 20 scholarly articles published in both national and international peer-reviewed academic journals. In addition to his teaching and research responsibilities, he has led numerous national and international research and development projects. |
