GEOSTAT moves to the alternative methods of data collection

Date: 18 March 2020

In order to avoid the risks related to the spread of the new coronavirus (COVID-19) in the country, GEOSTAT moves to the alternative methods of data collection.

The above includes the replacement of the personal interview method by telephone and online survey methods within the framework of some surveys (household and agricultural surveys).

During the personal interviews (face-to-face interviews), GEOSTAT interviewers visit a large number of households, which creates the risks for spreading the virus to both GEOSTAT’s staff and the respondents.

Accordingly, in order to prevent the spread of the virus, GEOSTAT temporarily suspends the interviewers' visits to the respondents, and will collect data through telephone surveys and online surveys in the coming months.

In accordance with the recommendations of international and local health organizations, a significant number of GEOSTAT's employees have been working remotely since March 13 this year. In addition, disinfection works were carried out.

Wishing you good health and success!
