World Statistics Day

Date: 20 October 2021

Today, October 20, the International Community celebrates the World Statistics Day. The first World Statistics Day was established on October 20, 2010 by the United Nations General Assembly. The World Statistics Day is celebrated with various events by the United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD), the UN regional offices and the national statistics offices of the UN member states.

“Under the global pandemic, the National Statistics Office of Georgia continues to adapt its statistical systems to the requirements of Covid-19. In response to anti-virus measures, Geostat offers various innovations to users, continues to develop international methodologies and standards. Geostat is actively involved in international projects and participates in High-Level Seminars, which contributes its undoubted success and making it a decent place among 20 European countries.

The strong future of reliable official statistics is based on professional independence, objectivity and public trust. These directions remain important priorities for us. On this World Statistics Day we would like to express our gratitude to all the statisticians for their important role in production and dissemination of reliable and timely statistics which is an essential tool for making the right decisions and developing effective policies – stated Mr. Gogita Todradze, Executive Director of National Statistics Office of Georgia.

We congratulate all statisticians with the World Statistics Day!
