Mr. Gogita Todradze has been appointed to the position of Executive Director of Geostat for the second term

The Prime Minister of Georgia has appointed Mr. Gogita Todradze to the position of Executive Director of the National Statistics Office for a second term.

 

Mr. Gogita Todradze was selected for the vacant position of a member of the Board of Geostat through competition, after which the list of selected candidates was submitted to the Parliament of Georgia for approval.

 

The Parliament approved Mr. Todradze's candidacy for the vacant position of the Board of Geostat with 80 votes (only one voted as “against”). At the meeting held on May 3 of the current year, the Board of Geostat elected him as the Chairman of the Board and presented him to the Prime Minister of Georgia for appointment to the position of Executive Director.

 

Mr. Gogita Todradze holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Economics (specialty Statistics) and Bachelor’s degree in Jurisprudence. He holds PhD in Economics (specialty Statistics) since 2006 as well.

 

Mr. Gogita Todradze has 20 years of experience working at Geostat. He has held various positions at the National Statistics Office of Georgia since 2002; in 2010-2016 he was the Head of the Business Statistics Division, in 2016-2018 he served as the Deputy Executive Director, and since 2018 he has held the position of Executive Director.

 

Mr. Gogita Todradze has been a member of the Expert Group on Business Statistics of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) since November 2017, and a member of the United Nations Statistical Commission (UNSC) since May 2019.

 

In 2018, he was elected as a member of the Bureau of Committee on Statistics of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), and in August 2020, as the Chairman of the Bureau of the ESCAP Committee on Statistics.

 

Since 2009 he has also been teaching at various higher educational institutions.

 

The Executive Director of Geostat is appointed by the Prime Minister of Georgia for the term of four years.
