National Statistics Office of Georgia Celebrated its 103rd Anniversary

The National Statistics Office of Georgia celebrated its 103rd anniversary. To honor this remarkable date a special event was held yesterday, on 25 July.

 

Mr. Gogita Todradze, the Executive Director of the National Statistics Office of Georgia, Mr. David Songhulashvili, Chairman of the Sector Economy and Economic Policy Committee, Ms. Eka Sepashvili, deputy Chairman of the Sector Economy and Economic Policy Committee of the Parliament of Georgia, Mr. Genadi Arveladze, the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Mr. Mirza Gelashvili, the deputy Minister of Finance of Georgia and Mr. Levan Vepkhvadze, Executive Director of the Georgian Business Association (BAG)  addressed the audience with a welcoming speech. 

 

Mr. Gogita Todradze congratulated the audience on the 103rd anniversary of the Statistics Office and presented the implemented and planned projects at Geostat. He expressed a sincere gratitude towards each employee for their fruitful work. "On July 25, 1919, the country's first statistical service was established, that has gone through a very difficult and at the same time important way of development. I congratulate all statisticians, as well as all supporters of Geostat, on this day. I wish them progress and success in their professional activities" – stated Mr. Gogita Todradze. 

 

"I congratulate the Statistics Office on its 103rd anniversary. It is one of the oldest services in our country. Today, we see that the Geostat expands and makes its activities more qualitative every year, which in itself contributes and helps the country in planning the right economic policy" – mentioned Mr. David Songhulashvili, Chairman of the Sector Economy and Economic Policy Committee of The Parliament of Georgia.

 

At the event, successful and meritorious employees, the best business companies providing information, as well as international and local organizations were awarded with special certificates.

 

The Executive Director awarded the Geostat's employee, who has been working in the statistical system for more than 50 years with the Certificate of Honor at this celebration event dedicated to the 103rd anniversary.

 

Invited guests had an opportunity to see a video prepared by Geostat specially for this day, which describes the history of the Statistics Office and its current activities.

 

The first Statistics Office of the country was established on July 25, 1919. Therefore, the mentioned date is connected with the beginning of production of official statistics in Georgia
