The Chief Economist of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), Mr. Albert Park, paid a working visit to the National Statistical Office of Georgia.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the Technical assistance initiated by the Asian Development Bank, which includes the assessment of the possibilities of using new technologies and Big data in the process of producing official statistics.
The above mentioned technical assistance covers three components: development of production of satellite reports, assessment of population mobility using mobile operator data and implementation of remote sensing method in agricultural statistics.
During the meeting, Mr. Gogita Todradze, Executive Director of GEOSTAT underlined the development of the technical assistance and together with the representatives of ADB evaluated the progress of the project.
The parties agreed to expand the existing cooperation and also discussed the perspectives of implementing new joint projects.
