Geostat Introduces a New Survey in the Framework of the „50X2030 Initiative”

Date: 19 April 2023

The National Statistical Office of Georgia conducts large-scale training for field personnel within the framework of the international project initiated by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) - "50X2030 Initiative".

Within the framework of the new survey "Machine-Equipment and Assets", the training is held from April 19 to April 22, and more than 200 Geostat employees participate in it. During the training, the survey methodology and the instructions for filling out the questionnaire are discussed in detail. The survey is planned to be conducted by the CAPI method, using modern technologies - tablet computers.

As a result of the survey, both additional indicators of agricultural statistics and indicators of the UN Sustainable Development Goals are obtained, namely: SDG 5.a.1 Percentage of people with ownership or secure rights over agricultural land (out of total agricultural population), by sex; and (b) share of women among owners or rights-bearers of agricultural land, by type of tenure.

Geostat joined the"50X2030 Initiative" project in 2022. Within the framework of this cooperation, the area of agricultural statistics has significantly increased, including in the production of SDG indicators.

In addition to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the World Bank (WB) and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) participate in the implementation of the 50X2030 initiative.
