The season of the Inter –Agency Council for the National Strategy for the development of official statistics

The first season of Inter-Agency Council was held on 31October in the National Statistics Office of Georgia.The Inter-Agency Council was established in August of the current year, to elaborate 2024-2027 National Statistical Development Strategy and action plan, based on the Decree of the Government of Georgia.The chair of the council is Mr. Gogita Todradze, Executive Director of Geostat. The Council composed of eleven Government agencies under GEOSTAT leadership.      

 

The process of the National Strategy for the development of official statistics and action plan, as well as existing challenges and future plans were discussed by the council members at the meeting. Mr. Gogita Todradze, Executive Director of Geostat addressed to participants. According to him, “The strategy aims to promote the national statistical system of Georgia, with a focus on improving data collection, processing and dissemination. This national policy document, developed in close partnership with the stakeholders, envisions strengthening of the national statistical system in the midterm and long-term perspective in the country.”

 

Along with the members of the council the season was attended by the representatives of the UNDP and local experts involved in preparation process of the document.

 

The meeting was followed by a discussion on the next steps in developing the strategic document and further improvement of the national statistical system in Georgia.
