Mr. Gogita Todradze, the Executive Director of Geostat participates in the High-Level meetings organized by the Statistical Institute for Asia and the Pacific

Mr. Gogita Todradze, the Executive Director of the National Statistics Office of Georgia is participating in the nineteenth session of the Governing Council of SIAP and the Management Seminar for the Heads of National Statistical Offices in Asia and the Pacific(SIAP), which takes place on 13-15 December in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

 

The Statistical Institute for Asia and the Pacific (SIAP) operates in accordance with its charter and has the Governing Board. This board consists of representatives appointed by the Government of Japan, as well as representatives from other member countries of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), who are elected by the Commission.

 

The Council meeting is held annually, with a parallel High-Level conference of the Management Seminar for the Heads of National Statistical Offices in Asia and the Pacific (SIAP). The conference is participated by the heads of statistical institutions of countries across Asia and the Pacific, along with distinguished representatives from international organizations, such as UNSD (United Nations Statistics Division) and UNESCAP (United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific).

 

The Management Seminar for the Heads of National Statistical Offices represents a platform, for discussing on strategic directions and developments in the field of statistics. The theme of ongoing conference is the "Fundamental Principles of Production of Official Statistics," which aims to facilitate an active dialogue and promoting cooperation.

 

During the conference, Mr. Gogita Todradze, the Executive Director of Geostat, will chair one of the sessions and will focus the importance of the fundamental principles of official statistics of the United Nations and emphasizes the need to implement these principles in practice.

 

At the conference, participants have the opportunity to share experiences from their respective countries, discuss existing challenges and possible way to solve them, as well as share future plans and the results achieved in various directions.

 

This collaborative environment facilitates a rich dialogue where participants can learn from each other's experiences and contribute to the collective advancement of statistical practices.
