The Memorandum of Understanding was sighed between the National Statistics Office of Georgia (GEOSTAT) and Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission (CNERC)

The Memorandum of Understanding was sighed between the National Statistics Office of Georgia (GEOSTAT) and Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission (CNERC).

 

The bilateral document was signed by Mr. Gogita Todradze, Executive Director of Geostat and Mr. Davit Narmania, the Chairperson of the Georgian Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission and agreed on future cooperation.

 

The purpose of the memorandum is to promote public administrative activities, exchange statistical and other public information in regulated areas, and provide consultations within the scope of the competence granted by the law. Specifically, Geostat will furnish the Energy and Water Supply Commission with existing statistical products within the Commission's field of interest, and the Commission will provide Geostat with information within its competence.

 

According to the Executive Director of the National Statistics Office, Mr. Gogita Todradze, close cooperation between the parties will be ensured within the framework of the memorandum: "Today, a memorandum was signed between the National Statistics Office of Georgia and Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission CNERC aiming to provide CNERC with information about the data in the energy and water supply sectors, as well as to supply CNERC with processed, new statistical data by Geostat," stated Mr. Gogita Todradze.

 

As stated by CNERC Chairman, Mr. Davit Narmania, it is crucial to strengthen cooperation between agencies against the backdrop of ongoing reforms in the energy sector: "For the effective implementation of current projects in the energy and water supply sectors, cooperation within the framework of the memorandum will contribute to the development of new, reliable statistical data.

 

According to the agreement, the National Statistics Office will assist  CNERC in creating an Energy Portal, where all necessary information about the energy sector will be presented. Additionally, the parties have agreed to implement a number of other interesting projects within the memorandum’s framework”- stated Mr. Davit Narmania.  

 

The purpose of the memorandum is to ensure the effective fulfilling the obligations.  Additionally, the memorandum includes for the creation of a joint working group as needed.Top of Form
