Gogita Todradze, Executive Director of the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat), was elected as a member of the Conference of European Statisticians Bureau. The elections were held on June 18, 2025, in Geneva, organized by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE).
The Conference of European Statisticians (CES) is the highest governing body for official statistics in the UNECE region, uniting 56 countries - including European, North American, Caucasus and Central Asian states.
The Conference is held annually at the headquarters of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe in Geneva and represents one of the most significant events of the global statistical community.
The elections were conducted according to special procedures. According to the UN Economic Commission for Europe protocol, the list of candidates for Bureau membership was compiled with individuals who are well known, trusted and widely respected in the international statistical community and have been actively involved in the work of the Conference, driving forward the development of official statistics worldwide.
The Conference of European Statisticians Bureau represents the governing body of the Conference. It is a platform where the most important decisions in the field of official statistics are made. The Bureau's main functions are: reviewing and approving the Conference's work program, defining strategic directions for official statistics development, coordinating international statistical cooperation, defining mandates for expert and working groups, as well as developing new statistical standards and recommendations.
The Bureau consists of eight members, whose election is carried out for a two-year term. The new Bureau composition (2025-2027) was formed with members selected based on personal professional achievements and international experience.
The newly elected Bureau is headed by Canada's Chief Statistician, whose members along with Gogita Todradze will be the heads of statistical offices from Ireland, Estonia, Slovenia, Albania, Mexico, and Australia.

• Director of Statistics Division, UNECE
• Director-General of Eurostat
• Chief Statistician of the International Monetary Fund (IMF)
• Chief Statistician of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD)
• Chief Statistician of the World Bank
Georgia's representation in the Conference of European Statisticians Bureau represents international recognition of the country's statistical system and confirmation of its leaders' high professionalism. This achievement represents a significant milestone in Georgia's strategic integration into the international statistical framework and the consolidation of its institutional standing within the European statistical domain.
The results of these elections demonstrate that Georgia's statistical system is recognized at the international level and is considered a trusted partner both regionally and globally.
Through active participation in the Bureau's activities, Georgia will have significant influence on the development of the statistical system in the European and Asian regions. The country is given a unique opportunity to directly engage in the process of forming international statistical policy and standards.
