Mr. Gogita Todradze, Executive Director of Geostat, is participating in a high-level working meeting for the Asia-Pacific region, held from July 14 to 16 in New Delhi, India.
The event is organized by the United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD) and the United Nations Statistical Institute for Asia and the Pacific (UN SIAP). It brings together heads of national statistical offices from 16 countries in the region.
The conference is focused on the theme: "Data Ethics, Governance, and Quality in a Changing Data Ecosystem." It's structured into four thematic sessions: The Evolving Role of National Statistical Offices; Modernizing Institutional and Organizational Frameworks; Ensuring the Quality of Official Statistics; and Implementing Modern Methods for Official Statistics Production. The sessions feature interactive group discussions and exchanges of experience.
In addition to delivering a presentation and participating in panel discussions, Mr. Gogita Todradze will also chair one of the sessions. This session aims to strengthen the capacities of national statistical offices, enabling them to tackle the rapidly evolving data landscape and meet the growing demands for official statistics.
For Georgia, participation in this event represents a significant opportunity to gain international experience and study the latest standards. Involvement in such meetings helps modernize the country's statistical system, implement data ethics and quality standards, and deepens regional cooperation.
Following the event, the recommendations and best practices gathered will help statistical offices define future strategic directions and improve the quality of statistical services.
