Geostat Celebrates 106th Anniversary

Date: 25 July 2025

Traditionally, 25 July is celebrated as Statistics Day in Georgia.

The date marks the establishment of the country’s first statistical service on July 25, 1919, which laid the foundation for the development of Georgia’s modern statistical system. In 2025, the day is particularly significant, as it marks two key anniversaries: the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat) celebrates its 106th anniversary, and the Department of Economic and Social Statistics at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University marks its 100th anniversary.

To celebrate these achievements Geostat hosted a formal event attended by the representatives of Government agencies, Academia, and partner organizations.

He expressed his sincere appreciation to Geostat staff for their professionalism and commitment—it is essential in producing reliable statistical data and supporting the country’s development.

Special recognition was addressed to persons and organizations actively involved in the 2024 Population and Agricultural Census. Certificates of appreciation were presented to employees and partner institutions for their valuable contributions to the 2024 Population Census's successful implementation.
