Due to the high public interest of the 2024 Population and Agricultural Census of Georgia, the National Statistics Office of Georgia would like to provide the public with brief information on the progress of processing the Population Census results.

As you know, the 2024 Population and Agricultural Census of Georgia was conducted from November 14 to December 31, 2024. The census covered the entire territory of the country, except for the occupied territories.

The reference time for population enumeration (the critical moment of the census) was midnight (12:00 AM) between November 13 and 14, according to which the facts were registered.

According to the international methodology, all citizens of Georgia permanently residing in the country, as well as foreign citizens and stateless persons residing in the country for more than 12 months, were subject to the census.

As part of the census, data were collected electronically, using modern technologies. The process was carried out in two stages: in the first stage (November 14-23, 2024), the self- enumeration method (computer-assisted web-interview - CAWI) was used, and in the second stage (November 29 - December 31) - the computer-assisted personal interview method (CAPI).

Preliminary census results were published on June 25, 2025, which included aggregated information on population size by regions and municipalities, by gender and urban-rural settlements.

At this stage, the primary data obtained as a result of the census is being processed and validated, based on various administrative data sources.

According to preliminary data, as of November 14, 2024, the Population of Georgia amounted to 3,914 thousand people, of which 2,078 thousand (53 percent) are women, and 1,836 thousand (47 percent) are men.

According to preliminary data, at the time of the census, at least 93.4 percent of the population (3 million 657 thousand) are citizens of Georgia, and no more than 6.6 percent are foreign citizens permanently residing in the country.

Detailed (final) results of the census will be published in June 2026.
