International Meeting - Strengthening CRVS Systems Held in Tbilisi

On October 1, within the framework of the 10th Global Forum on Gender Statistics, the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) organized event dedicated on “Strengthening Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) Systems” in Tbilisi, at the Biltmore Hotel.

 

The main objective of the event was to enhance Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) systems for development of gender statistics, which are essential for implementing evidence-based policies to achieve gender equality.

 

At the meeting participants shared country experiences, best practices, and innovative approaches to enhancing gender data collection and usage through strengthened CRVS systems. Representatives from the National Statistics office of Georgia, the Kingdom of Morocco, and the Republic of Djibouti, as well as from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and UN Women participated in the panel discussion. 

 

The event once again stressed the importance of collaboration in the development of Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) systems to advance gender equality. Participants agreed to share the experience regularly as well as implementation of joint initiatives.
