Mr. Gogita Todradze Participates in the 57th Session of the United Nations Statistical Commission

Mr. Gogita Todradze, the Executive Director of the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat), participates in the 57th session of the United Nations Statistical Commission (UNSC), which is held from 3 to 6 March 2026 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

 

The United Nations Statistical Commission is the highest intergovernmental format in the field of official statistics, responsible for setting global standards and methodological frameworks. The session is attended by the   officials from the Statistical Offices of UN Member States and the representatives of international organizations.

 

During the session,  Mr. Gogita Todradze delivers statements at the Commission’s plenary meetings, participates in thematic discussions, and addresses issues such as social and demographic statistics, national accounts, environment statistics, agricultural statistics, business and trade statistics, SDG indicators and monitoring of the 2030 Agenda, dissemination of statistical data and metadata, and strengthening the capacity of NSOs, development of regional statistical cooperation, integration of statistics and geospatial information, as well as the use of data science and alternative data sources in official statistics.

 

In his interventions, the Executive Director of Geostat will highlight the ongoing institutional and methodological developments within Georgia’s statistical system, including harmonization with international standards, improvement of data quality, and the development of user-friendly statistical products. In addition, he will emphasize the significance of introducing modern technologies and the effective use of administrative data.

 

Within the framework of the visit, bilateral meetings with representatives of international organizations and heads of NSOs from partner countries are scheduled, during which current and future areas of cooperation will be discussed.

 

Georgia’s active participation in the 57th session of the United Nations Statistical Commission provides an important opportunity to further strengthen the international integration of the country’s statistical system and enhance its role in global statistics.
