Mr. Gogita Todradze reappointed as Executive Director of Geostat for a new term

Mr. Gogita Todradze has been reappointed as the Executive Director of the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat) for a new term by decision of the Prime Minister of Georgia.

 

Mr. Todradze was selected through a competition conducted by a commission established under Government Resolution No. 110 of 16 March 2026. Following the evaluation of candidates, the commission selected Mr Todradze and submitted his candidacy to the Prime Minister for appointment.

 

Mr. Todradze has served as the Executive Director of Geostat since 2018. He holds higher education qualifications from Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University in Economics (Statistics) and Law. He has held a Doctor of Economics degree since 2006.

 

He has nearly 25 years of professional experience at Geostat. He began his career in 2002 as an economist in the Population Census Division. Over the years, he has served as Deputy Head and Head of the Social Infrastructure Statistics Division, Deputy Head and Head of the Tbilisi Statistics Bureau, and, from 2006 to 2016, Head of the Business Statistics Department. Between 2016 and 2018, he served as Deputy Executive Director, and since 2018 he has held the position of Executive Director.

 

Mr. Todradze is actively involved in international statistical cooperation. Since 2017, he has participated in expert working groups of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE). From 2019 to 2022, he was a member of the United Nations Statistical Commission (UNSC).

 

In 2018, he was elected as a member of the Bureau of the Statistics Committee of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), and served as Chair of the Bureau from 2020 to 2022.

 

Since June 2025, he has been a member and Vice-President of the Bureau of the Conference of European Statisticians (CES) of UNECE, and in September 2025 he was elected as a member of the International Statistical Institute (ISI).

 

In addition, Mr. Todradze has 15 years of continuous teaching experience. Since 2009, he has lectured in statistics at various higher education institutions. Since 2017, he has been an Associate Professor at the Georgian Institute of Public Affairs (GIPA), and since 2022, a Full Professor at the Caucasus International University.

 

The Executive Director of Geostat is appointed by the Prime Minister of Georgia for a term of four years. Mr. Todradze will assume his new term of office on 3 May 2026.
