Mr. Paata Shavishvili, Deputy Executive Director of the National Statistics Office of Georgia, participated in the Europe and Central Asia Care Forum 2026, which was held in Istanbul on 11-12 May.
As part of the Forum, Mr. Shavishvili presented Georgia’s experience in conducting the Time Use Survey and in developing the satellite account for the valuation of unpaid household labour. He spoke about approaches to assessing the economic value of unpaid care and domestic work, and emphasised the importance of high-quality statistical data in supporting evidence-based policymaking.
In addition, Mr. Shavishvili took part in the panel discussion – “Demographic Change, Care Needs and the Power of Data”, where he discussed the importance of improved data in the care sector for effective policy development and informed decision-making.
The Forum was organised by UN Women and brought together representatives of governments, international organisations and academia from more than 40 countries across Europe and Central Asia.
