The Deputy Executive Director of the National Statistics Office of Georgia, Mr. Irakli Apkhaidze, participated in the 16th Tbilisi Regional Forum on Sustainable Development, organised by Tbilisi City Hall.
The Forum serves as an important platform bringing together representatives of the public sector, the business community, academia and international organisations to discuss current issues related to sustainable development. This year’s event focused on socio-economic development, demography, migration, education, innovation, energy, urban development and other areas of strategic importance.
Mr. Apkhaidze took part in the panel discussion “Demography, Migration, Sustainable, Affordable and Socially Inclusive Housing”, which examined contemporary demographic and migration trends and their implications for socio-economic development.
During the panel discussion, the Deputy Executive Director of Geostat presented key statistical indicators and trends relating to population demographics and migration. The presentation drew upon the results of the 2024 Population Census, as well as data from ongoing administrative statistical sources. Particular attention was given to the methodological innovations and new approaches introduced during the census process.
Held annually since 2007, the Tbilisi Regional Forum on Sustainable Development has evolved into a valuable platform for the exchange of experience, contemporary approaches and new ideas. The Forum contributes to strengthening cooperation and promoting sustainable development at both the local and international levels.
