Mr. Gogita Todradze meets with municipal mayors

Date: 12 June 2026

From 10 to 12 June, a regional meeting was held in Kakheti in cooperation with the National Association of Local Authorities of Georgia (NALAG) and UN Women. The event focused on strengthening local policies on gender equality and was attended by representatives of the executive and legislative branches of government, as well as mayors from municipalities across Eastern Georgia.

During the meeting, participants discussed measures to advance gender equality at the local level, improve municipal services, support women's empowerment, and strengthen the role of municipalities in promoting equal opportunities for all citizens.

At the event, Mr. Gogita Todradze presented the key priority areas for the development of Georgia’s statistical system, introduced interactive statistical portals, and shared the results of the 2024 Population Census.

The regional meeting provided an opportunity to strengthen collaboration between natioal and local government representatives, exchange good practices, and support the effective integration of principles of equal opportunities into municipal policies and programmes. Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of evidence-based decision-making, with official statistics serving as a fundamental basis for policy planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation. Reliable statistical evidence helps local authorities design more targeted, effective and responsive services that better meet the needs of their communities.
