Date: 4 November 2026
The National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat) has opened a new Training Centre to promote statistical literacy, raise awareness of official statistics and support the accurate interpretation and effective use of statistical data.
The Centre will regularly deliver training courses covering a wide range of statistical topics and the main areas of statistics produced by Geostat. These will include price and inflation statistics, the calculation of Gross Domestic Product (GDP), external trade, foreign direct investment, business statistics, labour market and employment statistics, population and demographic statistics, social statistics, agricultural statistics, environmental statistics and other areas.
A key component of the training programme will be an examination of the methodologies used to calculate statistical indicators. Participants will gain an understanding of how the relevant data are collected and processed, the methodologies used to calculate specific indicators, and how statistical results should be correctly interpreted and used.
The courses will be aimed at representatives of the public and private sectors, academia, research institutions, students, the media and other users of statistical information.
The Training Centre's activities will contribute to the development of statistical literacy, promote a stronger culture of evidence-based decision-making and strengthen public confidence in official statistics.
The first training course at Geostat's Training Centre will take place on 16 November and will focus on Inflation and Price Statistics.
