Winners of the Hackathon on Child Rights were Revealed

According to the data of “2018 Georgia MICS”,    “Hack outside the box" hackathon organized by the UNICEF was held on December  6 – 7. The winners of the digital marathon were announced on December 17.

The hackathon was dedicated to the 30th Anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, and involved 14 teams of 16-24-year-olds, working together to share ideas and experiment with the latest technologies and innovations.

Three teams of young people who came up with the best digital solution were awarded by Dr. Ghassan Khalil, UNICEF Representative in Georgia and Mr. Gogita Todradze, Executive Director of National Statistics Office of Georgia. 

The hackathon participants worked on the following issues:

•    Violent discipline used with children 
•    Childhood development
•    Elevated blood lead levels among children 

Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS) was implemented by National Statistics Office of Georgia with technical and financial support of the UNICEF and the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health (NCDC). In addition, kind contribution to the survey were provided by SIDA, USAID, AFD, SDC, UNFPA, UNDP, WHO, the World Bank, and the Italian National Institute of Health.
